Children’s Ski Scholarship Eligibility Information

REQUIREMENT CHECKLIST FOR ELIGIBILITY 2024/2025 SKI seaSOn
Priority is given to students in the Harwood School District (HUUSD) - Warren, Fayston, Waitsfield, Moretown, Duxbury, Waterbury
Athletes must be ages 5-9 during the upcoming ski season. Children must be 5 years old as of January 1st. Returning athlete support is considered through age 11 for new athletes that start at age 9.
The application needs to be completed by a parent, guardian, or head of household.
Parents (s) or guardian (s) must sign the release and waiver of liability.
The athlete and parent (s) or guardian(s) must commit to the athlete attending at least 8 of the 12 weekly Sunday sessions. Seasonal programs typically begin the last weekend in December and go through mid-March.
Athletes must be able to demonstrate age-appropriate behavior. They must be able to work in a group instruction environment. See more details about the expectations on the MRG Ski School page.
Parent (s) or guardian (s) must provide or arrange for transportation of the athlete to and from Mad River Glen.
Returning athletes must have completed the prior year's program in good standing.
FINANCIAL AID & MERIT CONSIDERATIONS
Priority will be given to eligible children who meet one or more of the following criteria:
Athletes with demonstrable financial need. Examples include eligibility for VT Free & Reduced Meals Program, SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, Foster Care, WIC, etc.
Athletes must have the desire and enthusiasm to learn and play on skis in the winter
Athletes who are members of a multi-child household and/or living in a single-parent or guardian relationship household

Early DEADLINE - SEPTEMBER 1, 2024
Up to three (3) awards will be selected from the pool of completed applications to the SMF scholarship review committee by the close of business on this date. Awarded recipients will be notified by September 15, 2024.
FINAL DEADLINE - November 17, 2024
Up to three (3) awards will be selected from the pool of completed applications to the SMF scholarship review committee by the close of business on this date. Awarded recipients will be notified by December 1, 2024.
RETURNING Athlete / SIBLINGS OF RETURNING ATHLETES
DEADLINE - September 1, 2024
Athletes who were awarded this scholarship in the past and continue to meet the eligibility requirements may apply for ongoing support. Up to three (3) awards will be selected from the pool of completed applications submitted by this date. The SMF scholarship review committee will award and notify recipients by September 15th, 2024.
